This giant zelkova stands tall in the grounds of Hōzōji Temple in Jinguji.
According to the temple’s tradition, it is said to be over 950 years old, with a trunk circumference of about 11 m and a height of about 38 m. It is one of the finest trees in Akita Prefecture for both size and vigor.
