The Ikeda family served as village headmen of Takanashi Village from the mid-Meiji period until before World War II, and were known as one of the three great landlords of Tohoku.
Ikeda Family Garden (Former Ikeda Family Garden) was the first garden in Akita Prefecture to be designated a Place of Scenic Beauty by the national government.
Within the garden, where large 4-meter snow-viewing lanterns and a Western-style house are placed, flowers and plants bloom in every season, offering completely different scenery throughout the year.
