One of Akita’s three major landlords in the Meiji period

The Hongo family was known as one of the leading landowners in the prefecture from the Meiji to Taisho periods, owning more than 345 hectares, and also contributed to the development of local agriculture and the economy.

The residence is surrounded by black wooden fences and features a main house more than 100 years old, an inner storehouse, a Western-style building completed in the early Showa period, and a garden with stone lanterns.
